What is the Mass Update Tool

This tool allows users to make field-level data changes to a selection of records to vastly simplify data management. The changes can be made based on a current selection with the ability to further limit selected records on the fly.

The following functions are possible:

  • Update
  • Overwrite
  • Remove
  • Move values from one field to another
  • Copy values from one field to another

Important

Avoid the unintended consequences of a seemingly simple change. The Mass Update Tool is very easy to use, but that means you have the potential to make a mess! Please check with Satuit Client Services prior to making any changes, or if it is your first time making changes with this tool.

Run a search to locate the data you are going to modify. If a search is not performed before clicking into the Mass Update tool you will receive a notification that a current selection is needed.

To access the Mass Update Tool. Click on 'Tools' and select 'Mass Update Tool'.

The Mass Update Tool will display in a pop-up window and will have the following options:

Selection checkboxes – Check or Uncheck the records to indicate if you would like to include or exclude the record from the Mass Update.

Choose a Field – This menu will provide a list of fields from the selected records.

Rules– Select the option you would like to occur with the data.

      • Update – Adds value to blank fields only
      • Overwrite – Add value to all fields
      • Remove – Remove any value in selected records/fields
      • Move values from one field to another (deletes old value)
      • Copy Value from one field to another

If one of the fields from the plist table is selected (multi-picker) plist.Account List1, plist.accountlist2, plist.buslist1, plist.conlist1, plist.conlist2, plist.issuelist1, plist.report1, plist.restrict1, plist.restrict2.

The Rules will change to ADD and DELETE to choose a picklist value from the Data field to add or remove to the selected multi-picker. This has replaced the Global Roles allowing you more flexibility to update all plist table fields.

Data – Based upon your selected Field and Rule the Data field will display the selected field type options that are associated with the selected Field. Ex. A picklist is selected; the Data field will display all current picklist values. Click on Update to start updating your selected field. To proceed with the update select ‘Yes’ on the Mass Update confirmation window.

Your request will be queued and you will be notified when the update is completed.
