Outlook Add-In — Classic vs. New Outlook, Installation, and Troubleshooting

Q: What is the difference between the old Satuit Outlook Add-In and the new one?
A: The original Satuit Outlook Add-In was a COM add-in installed via a SETUP.EXE file. Microsoft announced the retirement of COM add-ins in favor of a web-based add-in model, so Satuit no longer adds new features to the COM version. The new Satuit Outlook Add-In (OAI) is a web-based add-in that works in both the Classic Outlook desktop client and the New Outlook. If you previously downloaded SETUP.EXE to install the add-in, you are using the old version. Contact support for the latest web-based OAI manifest file and installation instructions.

Q: What are the funcational differences between the old Satuit Outlook Add-In and the new one?
A: The new Satuit Outlook Add-In (OAI) largely has equavilant functionality as the original, with a few exceptions. The New OAI does not have the 'Unassigned Items Window', Outlook Task support, Two-way synchronization, adding emails directly to a Business/Entity, Document Type Selection, Email Templates, Mail Merge to BCC, and Word Merge Documents.

Q: How do I install the new Satuit Outlook Add-In on Windows?
A: Installation instructions are available at: https://satuittechnologies.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403123922583-How-to-Install-Upgrade-Outlook-in-Windows. Note that administrative rights are required to install the add-in. If you complete the steps and the add-in does not appear in Outlook, try restarting Outlook. If it still does not appear, restart your computer and check again.

Q: The "Add to SatuitCRM" button has disappeared from my Outlook toolbar. What should I do?
A: First, close and restart Outlook. If the button does not reappear, uninstall the add-in and reinstall it using the latest instructions here: https://satuittechnologies.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403123922583-How-to-Install-Upgrade-Outlook-in-Windows. If you recently moved from classic Outlook to the New Outlook, you will need the new web-based OAI — the old COM add-in is not compatible with New Outlook.

Q: I clicked "Add to SatuitCRM" but it's not showing me a list of contacts to choose from before saving. How do I get the popup back?
A: In the Outlook Add-In settings (OAI settings), enable the "Show Detail Form" option. This restores the popup that lets you select which contact or entity the email should be linked to before it is saved.

Q: The Satuit add-in says my password doesn't match my current SatuitCRM password. How do I fix this?
A: If your firm uses Single Sign-On (SSO), you are not normally prompted for a password in SatuitCRM. In this case, have your local Satuit administrator reset your password, or contact Satuit Support to have a password reset email sent to you. Once your SatuitCRM password is updated, the add-in should sync correctly.

Q: Does the Satuit Outlook Add-In work in Outlook on the web (browser-based Office 365)?
A: The new web-based OAI can be used in browser-based (New) Outlook. However, certain features — including sending Email Templates / Mail Merge — require the Outlook desktop client and will not work from Outlook Web.

Q: I moved to Microsoft 365 and lost my Satuit add-in. What do I do?
A: You will need to reinstall the add-in. Instructions: https://satuittechnologies.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403123922583-How-to-Install-Upgrade-Outlook-in-Windows.
